Americans see prevention, government-required insurance as solutions to health care crisis.

The majority of adults in the United States believe there should be a greater national emphasis on preventive health services, according to a new consumer survey conducted by International Communications Research (ICR) and commissioned by U.S. Preventive Medicine, a company developing programs to advance a culture of prevention throughout America.

The poll, which was conducted in July 2007, asked a nationally representative sample of U.S. adults 18 years or older to answer the following question: What in your opinion are solutions to America's health care challenges? Their responses include the following:

* 68.6 percent said greater national emphasis on preventive health services;

* 61.3 percent said government-required health insurance for everyone (universal health care); and

* 48 percent said health savings...
