When planners were asked whether particular activities have grown more popular, stayed the same, or become less popular over the past few years, the only major change was with spas. Other activities--cultural attractions, golf, outdoor sports, shopping, and beach--stayed nearly the same, but spas were considered more popular by 42.1 percent of respondents.

The planners MN spoke with for this article do not incorporate spa time as a part of organized event activities, primarily because of cost or group size, and say that while attendees may visit the spa, no one requests it as a scheduled recreation. "They book on their own; they're not telling us we should offer it as an activity," said Cori Schleger, corporate meeting planner for the residential division of Mohawk Industries in Calhoun, GA.
