Technology poses less of a challenge to consumer driven health care than business process.

It has become increasingly apparent that consumers want greater control over their health care choices and additional transparency in health care costs. Health plans, for the most part, are pleased that consumers will make their own choices, and, at least in theory, manage their own health better. This growing phenomenon is being referred to as consumer-driven health care (CDHC). "This last stretch between concept and reality is by far the most difficult, but at least a workable solution is in sight, according to Richard Soules, director of product marketing for My HealthBank, a CDHC application suite from QCSI.
