Corp. housing players expand development in Asia.

While corporate housing providers in 2003 continued to grow domestically the most dramatic expansion was in international markets. Asia especially saw a marked increase in the number of corporate housing units open as such major players as Oakwood Worldwide and Marriott International sought to provide accommodations with the space and layout suitable to Western business travelers on h term assignments in Tokyo, Shanghai and other cities.

With the January opening of its Roppongi T-Cube project, Los Angeles-based Oakwood now has five properties in downtown Tokyo. Its inventory of "serviced apartments" in the city totals 287, ranging in size from studios to three-be apartments.
