Dec. 8--DAYTON -- Retailers' advertising and pricing wars are creating deep discounts this holiday -- bad news for retailers' bottom line, but good news for consumers trying to save money.

On the Friday following Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday among retailers because it puts them "in the black," stores used early-bird specials and doorbusters to lure customers who now expect great deals, especially on electronics.
