Words cannot describe the impact on life in America following the attack on New York and Washington. All of us rode the emotional roller coaster from shock to anger to grim determination. Each of us was touched by the outpouring of support demonstrated by the people of this country towards one-another. We also shared the collective outrage at the depravity of people who would cause the death of innocent civilians.

I was in the executive offices of the Corning Museum of Glass when the news hit. I observed the employees spring into action, making calls to locate colleagues in New York, to make sure they were safe. I also witnessed the care and compassion with which these employees comforted one another during those first minutes of uncertainty. It was clear as the week unfolded that the Corning Museum of Glass and Corning Incorporated both had well thought out plans to handle the situation.
