Article Excerpt There's no question the Puck Building is one of New York's most celebrated addresses. Listed on the National Historic Register, this grand Romanesque Revival structure was designed by Albert Wagner and built in 1885 for the J. Ottman Lithographic Company. What's more, the building's steel frame construction, horizontal bands of windows, and skillful use of brick exemplify the Chicago School of Architecture. From a purely practical stand-point, the Puck Building is strategically located at the crossroads of four neighborhoods: Little Italy and Chinatown to the southeast, SoHo to the south, and Greenwich Village to the northeast. So the decision to consolidate NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service here was an easy one. Renovating the space, however, required much more thought.
