A simple spreadsheet that standardized the roles of corporate meeting stakeholders has helped energy giant ConocoPhillips Co. increase productivity and efficiency. The chart has focused the department's role on meeting logistics and cut down duplicate or unnecessary work, she said, despite the non-mandated, centralized but not consolidated meetings management program.

RACI charts--an acronym for responsible, accountable, consult and inform--have been used in Corporate America for other business processes, said Lisa Stanford, program administrator for travel and meeting services for Houston-based ConocoPhillips. Stanford expanded and fully implemented use of the RACI chart for meetings in mid-2004 (Meeting Todays, April 18).
