The persistent inability of hotels to accurately and quickly load rates into global distribution systems for travelers to correctly book long has been the bane of many a corporate hotel program. Last year, Deloitte Services LLP hotel and ground transportation manager Brian Nichols, not only fashioned a manner for integrating rate-loading issues into request for proposals process, sharply reducing the number of rate-loading errors to nearly zero, but also shared it with the corporate travel industry through his work as chair of the National Business Travel Association's hotel committee.

Nichols developed a timeline to specify precisely when and how rates were loaded that began even before issuing requests for proposals, spoke with a broader range of higher-level hotel executives and those managers directly responsible for rate loading, and developed penalties, including potential exile from Deloitte's hotel...
