Christison, executive director of Madison, Wis.-based IDDBA, says opportunities abound on this front, not only for the most outstanding retailers, but also for less aggressive operators. "It's so simple, really. It's figuring out how to make it easier for the customer--at whatever level you operate--to do business with you."
With an emphasis on making things easy--as in "easy to fix," "easy to eat," and "easy to clean"--the trade association's annual event, set to take place June 5 to June 7 in Minneapolis, will revolve around persuading and educating retailers to create specialized meal strategies, which match up with their core competencies--whether they're comfort food, component meals, or rotisserie items-and with their shoppers' lifestyles, too.
