Approaching my third decade in the travel industry and having just returned from my 30th trip by air this year, I know travel needs to be nearly invisible, like sending an overnight package, instead of a stress-laden process that can make an eternal optimist become jaded.
This industry has gone through a number of difficult periods, some of which were beyond out" control, but there are areas that can be improved if we focus on the true "customer." I remember back fondly to the days when people in first class acted as such, and usually dressed up for the occasion. Compare that with the current period, where I have to strip down to my socks, remove my belt, wallet and sometimes my watch, in order to get past the second round of security checks.
