Few would dispute that Gulf International Bank (GIB) is a regional banking heavyweight. However, it is probably best known for its corporate banking and project finance activities. The bank was set up more than a quarter of a century ago with those purposes in mind, but its strategies have changed in recent years. One of the most important developments was the acquisition of London-based Saudi International Bank -- now renamed Gulf International Bank (UK) Ltd -- completed in early 1999. And one of the main attractions for GIB was its asset management operation. Since the integration, it has gone from strength to strength.
