For the fourth year in a row, Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. has captured the number-one position in the hotly contested deluxe category of the Top U.S. Hotel Chain Survey. The real battle this year, however, was fought by Ritz-Carlton's longtime rival for category leadership, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, and a recent interloper, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts along with its sister Luxury Collection, both of which are units of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. After being usurped by St. Regis for the number-two spot last year, Four Seasons this year reclaimed that luxury-brand-in-waiting position, leaving St. Regis in the number-three spot.
